Self Forgiveness

It’s hard to believe that December is here. Where has 2021 gone? It’s the beginning of the holiday festivities of Christmas, Hanukkah, Rohatsu, Mawlid el-Nabi or the Winter Solstice to name a few of the many religious celebrations. These observances prepare us for our New Year celebrations to usher in all our expectations and resolutions for the New Year!

If you’re like me, it’s also a time of reflection and contemplation. Be kind to yourself, in the religious traditions, it’s a time for forgiveness, try something new this year, don’t look outward, look inward and start by forgiving yourself. Throughout our lives we’ve had to make choices and decisions that the Self calls upon periodically to try and shame us or make us feel guilty. Maitreya’s favorite saying seems appropriate here, “What a waste of energy!” Metaphysically speaking, that’s how we learn and grow. Don’t let the Self part of you punish you by making you feel guilty over past actions, they were just learning experiences.

Here is a link to a channeling Maitreya did when we were in India in 2016 where he discusses why you need to Forgive Yourself.

I wrote this Newsletter 5 years ago on Forgiveness, still working on the lesson, how about U. 😊

True Forgiveness -Newsletter #44; November 29, 2016

Life is full of choices, and it is how we learn. We get to experience the consequences of our decisions. Some hurt more than others, some last longer than others, some turn out so incredible, some are a complete disaster, but in the end, we’re allowed to experience an aspect of ourselves with each and every choice. I remember as a little kid, I threw a pair of pliers at some kid walking on the sidewalk in front of our house; not even sure why I did it, but fortunately I missed him, but he promptly picked them up and threw them back at me. He happened to hit me in the forehead, and I got to learn that head wounds bleed profusely, stitches hurt even more and a few swats across the butt with a belt from my mother made me think twice about being a naughty little boy. Luckily, I survived the experience and moved on to more and more choices. Some of our choices never cross our mind again, but some tend to follow us all our lives. Like a dog with a bone, the Self just keeps digging that bone up whenever it seems convenient to muddy the waters with a little emotional guilt relating to a situation we happen to be experiencing at the present time.

Unfortunately, the Self does not have our best interest at heart, it is afraid of change; it wants to keep us in our comfort zone so that it will limit our experiences in an attempt to obstruct us from facing fears that we have chosen for our learning. Who do you think keeps putting these circumstances in our path? The Universe does, it knows what we need and will keep placing us in situations until we learn what we have chosen to experience in this lifetime. The Self will do everything in its’ power to stop us from achieving the goals we set for ourselves. It will dredge up memories from current and past lives to thwart our experiences. Without exploring past life energy, we don’t have the full context of situations playing out on our journey. This is where guilt plays the spoiler role in our learning. The Universe places us in difficult situations where we have to make choices that may run counter to our traditions. If we break with authority or the norms of society, there will always be players in our play that won’t support our actions and may experience what they perceive to be pain and hardship from our decisions. That is their truth and their reality, but just as the Universe is assisting you to learn through your experiences, the Universe is also placing experiences in their path to allow them to learn and experience from. We are all actors in each other’s play or should I say dramas.

This is where the guilt comes in. People, often those close to you are impacted by choices you make in your efforts to be true to yourself and push forward with your life lessons. Even with Past Life context, it is difficult to not have guilt related to choices that you make that affects others, but without Past Life context, the guilt may be overwhelming, and you keep running from the lesson. Unfortunately, the lesson will keep recurring. The Universe acts like a broken record and it is going to keep placing you in the same situation until you to learn the lessons you signed up for in this incarnation.

We are entering a time of year where we tend to do a lot of soul searching relating to what we can be thankful for and to the aspirations we yearn to achieve in the New Year. It is also a time of year for reflection. It is a time when we tend to beat ourselves up for our past actions or inactions as may be the case. We play a lot of what if games, or should I say our mind does. The mind can be a very cruel foe. It has a name and it’s called the Self. It is nasty and it wants to keep us prisoner to our own emotions of self-doubt and insecurity. It wants us to second-guess the choices we are all faced with throughout our life journey. Its favorite sentences start with “If only”; If only I would have done this, If only I would have made another choice, If only, If only!

We just celebrated Thanksgiving in America, it is a holiday that represents giving thanks for all we have in terms of family, possessions, and every aspect of our lives we take for granted. December is the official start to the holiday season of Christmas, Hanukkah, Rohatsu, Mawlid el-Nabi and the Winter Solstice to name but a few of the religious celebrations. These celebrations prepare us for our New Year celebrations to usher in all our expectations and resolutions for the New Year!

This year, do give thanks for those in your life that have given you support and refuge, but take time to forgive yourself for choices you’ve made on your journey of life. It is a great time to let go of any guilt that you have. True forgiveness starts with forgiving your self. Strive to be true to yourself and then make decisions from the heart for your highest good. The Universe is here to work with you, but it is here to work with you on the lessons you’ve chosen to learn from. Be cognizant of Self-sabotage! There is much change on the horizon, so make it a New Year’s resolution for 2022 to embrace change for your highest good and to release any guilt you have about your past choices you’ve made. Remember, True Forgiveness starts with loving and appreciating YOU!

As a tribute to this holiday season and the New Year coming up, try and focus on yourself and forgive yourself relating to any judgments you are holding onto about yourself. Guilt just prevents you from seeing the bigger picture; let it go and forgive that person staring back at you in the mirror each morning. 😊

Have a good month,
